About Our Convention
The CDC-USA National Convention 2026 is a historic gathering of members, supporters, and delegates of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) residing in the United States. Scheduled to take place June 24–28, 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the convention represents a defining moment for the CDC-USA chapter as it renews its commitment to democratic governance, unity, and organizational strength.
Philadelphia, widely recognized as the birthplace of American democracy, provides a powerful symbolic setting for this important event. By convening in this historic city, CDC-USA seeks to reflect on the enduring values of democratic participation, accountability, and leadership renewal.
The convention serves as the supreme decision-making forum of CDC-USA, bringing together accredited delegates representing chapters across the United States. During this multi-day gathering, delegates will deliberate on the future direction of the organization, discuss policy priorities affecting the Liberian diaspora, and participate in the democratic election of national officers who will guide CDC-USA for the coming term.
Beyond leadership elections, the convention is designed to strengthen grassroots organization across the United States, deepen engagement among CDC members in the diaspora, and reinforce unity within the movement. It provides a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and collective reflection on the role of CDC-USA in supporting democratic development and national progress in Liberia.

A major highlight of the convention will be the anticipated presence of the Standard Bearer of the Congress for Democratic Change and former President of the Republic of Liberia, George Manneh Weah, who is expected to attend with a high-level delegation from Liberia. The delegation will include senior party officials and political leaders from Liberia’s opposition community.
Their participation is expected to create an important opportunity for dialogue and engagement among opposition leaders, aimed at exploring pathways toward greater cooperation and unity ahead of the 2029 General and Presidential Elections in Liberia. The convention will therefore serve not only as an internal organizational forum for CDC-USA, but also as a strategic platform for broader political discussions concerning Liberia’s democratic future.
The convention is organized under the authority of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Congress for Democratic Change, and is guided by established constitutional provisions and election guidelines to ensure transparency, fairness, and credibility throughout the process. Delegates will elect national officers through a democratic voting process conducted in accordance with official party regulations.
Ultimately, the CDC-USA National Convention 2026 is more than an administrative event. It is a moment of renewal for the CDC family in the diaspora, a gathering dedicated to unity, discipline, and the shared vision of building a stronger and more organized CDC-USA that remains firmly aligned with the principles of democratic change.
As delegates and members assemble in Philadelphia, the convention will reaffirm a collective commitment to party unity, democratic leadership, and the continued growth of CDC-USA as a vibrant voice for Liberians living abroad.
